Ingredients
- firm tofu — 300 g, cut into 2 cm cubes, pressed 5 minutes with paper towels
- broccoli — 300 g (1 small head), cut into small florets
- garlic — 3 cloves, minced
- light soy sauce — 1 tbsp
- oyster sauce (or vegetarian mushroom sauce) — 1 tbsp
- cornstarch — 1 tsp mixed with 2 tbsp water
- cooking oil — 1.5 tsp
- sesame oil — 1/4 tsp
Steps (beginner-friendly)
- Press the tofu between paper towels under a weight for 5 minutes to remove water — this prevents splattering and helps it brown.
- Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 90 seconds until bright green and just fork-tender, then drain well.
Tip: Blanching first means you need almost no oil for the broccoli — it stays crisp and bright green.
