Ingredients
- chicken breast — 2 halves (about 400 g)
- garlic — 3 cloves, minced
- soy sauce — 2 tbsp
- honey — 1.5 tbsp
- rice vinegar — 1 tbsp
- cooking oil — 1 tbsp
- black pepper — 1/4 tsp
Steps (beginner-friendly)
- Slice each chicken breast horizontally through the middle to make 2 thin cutlets (or place in a bag and pound flat to about 1.5 cm thick with a rolling pin).
- Season both sides with black pepper and a pinch of salt.
- Mix the glaze in a small bowl: 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1.5 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp vinegar.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the cutlets 4 minutes on the first side until deep golden, then flip and fry 3 more minutes.
- Check doneness: cut the thickest part — juices should run clear with no pink.
- Add the minced garlic to the pan and stir 15 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the glaze and let it bubble on medium heat 1-2 minutes, flipping the chicken to coat, until the sauce thickens into a glossy syrup.
- Rest 2 minutes, slice, and pour the remaining glaze over the top. Serve with rice.
Tip: Flattening the cutlet ensures even, fast cooking.
